A Cambridge United fan, Simon Dobbin, was the subject of an unprovoked attack near to the rail station in Southend last season and suffered severe injuries. He has spent almost a year in hospital, being discharged home only recently. However, he is unlikely to make a full recovery and various groups including Cambridge Fans United have been involved in fundraising to help with the cost of adapting his house.
A group of Cambridge fans will be cycling to Mansfield for the match on Saturday to raise funds for Simon. They plan to arrive at at Field Mill around 1 p.m. Stags fans who wish to support Simon can donate on the day or by going to to the Just Giving website.
