STAGS FANS UNITED – AGM AND FANS FORUM

Tuesday 4 March 2014

Stags Fans United is currently arranging its AGM and Fans Forum. We will be inviting John Radford to the Fans Forum as usual and members and fans will be able to ask John and SFU any questions they wish.

The SFU Fans Forums do play an important role regarding transparency relating to the running of the football club and have been very successful in the past. There cannot be many clubs where the fans know as much about the running of the club and the football side as Mansfield fans do. Since John Radford bought the club, Stags Fans United have held at least five or six Fans Forums and helped arrange two Club AGM’s and we have asked John Radford every question that fans have raised even the ones that some fans said we would never ask e.g. Why did John appoint Carolyn as Chief Executive? Why does John employ members of his family? John also held his own “An Evening with John Radford” night in January earlier this year.

The role of Stags Fans United is as the club’s critical friend. We do constantly question the club and try and point it in the right direction. It is true that we would certainly do some things differently if we were running the club.  However, Mansfield Town is currently run on the benefactor model like most football clubs. John Radford (via Amber 12 Limited) is the majority shareholder and owner of the football club. He is also financially supporting the club. John is always prepared to listen to the fans but he has control of the football club and so has the final say.

Stags Fans United is always looking for new volunteers who agree with the aims of supporters trust to help SFU improve its communications with members or to set up and run any new community projects that could be operated under the SFU banner. If anybody is willing to help or has any good ideas then they should not hesitate to get in touch. You can contact SFU at info@stagsfansunitedsociety.co.uk
